ROSANA DAWN YBARRA

Rosana Ybarra (also know as Rosey) is an interdisciplinary artist working in painting, sculpture and performance. Originally from southern California, she received her BFA from Portland State University (2013) and MFA in Studio Arts from University of Nebraska – Lincoln (2018). Rosana uses a feminist lens to investigate ways the material world reflects and imbeds cultural ideology, and works to uncover the spiritual and emotional potential of objects. She is a recipient of numerous awards, including a Kimmel Nelson Harding Artist Residency Award, Dan and Barbara Howard Creative Achievement Award and Latinx Artist Visibility Award through the Ox-bow School of Art & Artist Residency. Recently, she was honored with a 7 month residency as a 2018-2019 Fellow at the Provincetown Fine Arts Work Center in Massachusetts.

Rosana considers herself an activist for social justice and a dreamer, she is most well-recognized by her uproarious laughter.
